3 flirty rum cocktails to try this Valentine’s Day.
I’m keeping it dry this February, but that doesn’t mean you have to! Here are 4 rum cocktails to shake up this Valentine’s Day!
For a stiff and gorgeous pre-dinner drink at home, try a mini mai tai:
only a little bitter mai tai
Serve: Small old-fashioned glass
Garnish: Big bunch of fresh mint
Ingredients:
0.5oz smith & cross rum
0.5oz campari
0.25oz liber & co orgeat
0.25oz pierre ferrand dry curaçao
0.5oz fresh lime juice
Make: Add ingredients to shaker with ice and spent lime shell. Strain into chilled glass with fresh ice. Garnish with fresh mint.
For a spirit-forward sip alongside your holiday entree, try this old fashioned riff:

Serve: Chilled lowball glass
Garnish: Large orange peel
Ingredients:
1oz ten to one / uncle nearest bourbon cask finish dark rum
1oz plantation 5yr rum
1/4oz hibiscus thyme syrup
2 dashes angostura bitters
Make: Add ingredients to mixing glass and stir for 30 revolutions. Double-strain into chilled lowball glass with large block of clear ice. Express lemon peel over cocktail and add to glass.
And last but certainly not least, for dessert, try a lip-smacking daiquiri:

Garnish: Luxardo cherry
Ingredients:
1oz diplomático mantuano dark rum
1oz appleton estate signature dark rum
1/2oz luxardo cherry syrup (from the jar)
1/4oz semi-rich (.75 parts water:1 part sugar) demerara syrup
1oz fresh lime juice
1-2 dashes chocolate bitters
Make: Add all ingredients to shaker with ice. Place one Luxardo cherry at the bottle of chilled glass. Double-strain ingredients into glass.
